We are flying through camp with over 125 campers signed up for the summer! Campers have been enjoying activities every day at the Center with our awesome staff and volunteers! They have also had the opportunity to enjoy free breakfast and lunch due to our collaboration with SFSP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department. Check out all the fun stuff we have done over the last four weeks!
Week 1 started off strong with ‘World Cup’ Week! Campers, new and old, were introduced to staff, our building, and rules. Once introductions were out of the way, campers had some free time to explore and enjoy everything from the bouncy house to bracelet making. We also had a visit from Otis, the Social Comfort Dog, and Milford Fire Department who did a safety lesson and Fire Drill! Campers ended off the first day with a trip to Fino Pool! On Tuesday we took our first field trip to ForeKicks in Norfolk! Despite the rainy
weather, the campers participated in a series of sports related activities and competitions in their indoor complex! On Wednesday campers made a soccer themed wind chime craft and enjoyed free play, including a soccer tournament in the gym! Thursday was an incredible lake day for our campers, who enjoyed the sun, water, playground, and even some ice cream from the snack shack. These offsite activities happen every week if the weather cooperates! On Friday the campers took a walk to the Milford Town Library where they were greeted by Sam and her team and enjoyed the movie “Kicking and Screaming” for movie day! Congratulations to Week 1 staff of the week, Chloee and Jack! And to our campers of the week, Anastasia and Juztyn!
Week 2 was ‘Culinary Week’ at the MYC! The kids spent most of the week in the water or drinking water to stay cool during the heatwave! Monday started off with meeting new campers followed by another visit from Otis and the Fire Department! On Monday and Wednesday, the camp went to Fino pool to escape the heat! Tuesday the campers ventured off to Wareham to visit Water Wizz where they enjoyed various slides, rides, the lazy river and the wave pool! Thursday was another lake day and it was the perfect day for more water activities, we also had staff from Rail Trail come to the Center to present a donation of $8,512 from their Father’s Day Fundraiser to support the MYC! We

welcomed Phyllis, Patsy, Sue and Dee of the Greenleaf Gardening Club on Friday! These lovely ladies and well tenured volunteers worked with two groups of campers to make a fresh herb dip they could eat! The other campers had a food clay modeling competition, played dodgeball and enjoyed the movie “Ratatouille”! They ended the week making their craft, a chef hat and apron, that they can take home for when they cook! Shoutout to Week 2 staff of the week, Maisie and Miguel! Also, to our campers of the week, Charlie and Melanie!
Week 3 was themed ‘Rodeo Week’ with our annual, and highly anticipated, trip to Kimball Farm! Campers visited Fino pool on Monday and Wednesday to go swimming, a truck from the Fire Department also stopped by on Monday for more safety presentations and to play with the campers! On Tuesday the campers went to Kimball! They got fresh food off the grill, enjoyed some ice cream, played mini golf, took a ride on bumper cars and boats, enjoyed the battings cages and the driving range! This week
for craft the campers made cowboy hats so they could wear them Friday for the theme day “Dress Like a Cowboy,” and enjoyed the lake on Thursday! Animal Adventures came to the Center on Friday We ended Friday watching ‘Ferdinand. Shoutout to Week 3 counselors of the week Addy and Brody! Also, to our campers of the week Jethro and Gabby!
Week 4 was STEAM Week! The Fire Department kicked off our Monday, meeting with kids about fire safety and once again, gave them to opportunity to use and learn about some of the equipment on the fire truck. We hit Fino pool twice for a nice change of scenery and of course Mendon Town beach later in the week. On Tuesday we took our biggest field trip to date, Canobie Lake! Campers, along with staff, combed through the park trying to squeeze as much fun as time would allow. From the water park to roller coasters to amusement park games, there was no shortage of activities. We ended the week with a visit from our friends at 4-H UMass Extension for STEAM filled activities and challenges in the morning and a trip into the future watching ‘Meet the Robinsons’.
