The Milford Youth Center is starting to schedule interviews for youth and young adults for summer work opportunities for multiple different municipal departments and local businesses! First round of interviews will take place at the Center on Tuesday, April 23rd and Wednesday, April 24th from 3-5:30 pm. This opportunity is possible through YouthWorks, a state-funded youth employment program that helps teens and young adults get the skills and experience needed to find and keep jobs. Participants take part in paid short-term work placements at public, private, and non-profit worksites. The program serves income-eligible youth living in targeted cities across the Commonwealth. This amazing opportunity is offered through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development and administered statewide by the Commonwealth Corporation. Locally it is coordinated through the MassHire Central Region Workforce Board and managed on their behalf in Worcester by the Worcester Community Action Council, in Milford by the Milford Youth Center, and in Southbridge by the Center of Hope.
- Applicants for our locations must be between the ages of 15 and 21 (only some locations allow for 15 year olds, just FYI – For example, the Milford Youth Center starts at 16 +)
- Applicants must fit the State mandated low-income / at-risk criteria
- Applicants must provide a signed copy of their Social Security card
- Applicants must complete the application process
- Applicants must have a CORI check if 18+
- Work Permit required for youth under 18
Positions are available at various Town Hall Departments, including the Milford Youth Center, Parks Department and the Facilities Department. We will also be having positions available at various outside businesses. If any local municipal departments and/or businesses would like to participate in this program in the future please let us know!
