Monthly Thank Yous: June 2022

The Youth Center would like to extend a very appreciative thank you to the following list who donated items and/or their time this month to the Center:

  • 7-Eleven for their Project A-Game Grant of $2,000 to the Center (and booklets for free drinks to give out the kids) Store Leader, Melissa Boudreau, and her Team at 7-Eleven Store 35487 in Milford presented the Center with a the donation to be used for the betterment of the Center and the youth in our community. Diane Hanff, Field Training Consultant for 7-Eleven Convenience Stores, who helped connect the Center with this opportunity, communicated that “we are proud to partner with the Milford Youth Center, as their students and their parents are our customers every day. We are certainly happy to have the opportunity to give back to our community!”;
  • Dolores Ivester for her generous donation of $350 for summer camp scholarships;
  • Maria Oregan, Grace Lavallee and Elaine McNanna for their joint donation of $175 for summer camp scholarships;
  • Mike Volpe of ANP Bellingham for donating funds to have Nydam Landscaping come by this month to conduct some landscaping and clean-up which included: weed and trash removal, bed mulching, lawn irrigation and fertilization at the Youth Center entry way;
  • Papa Gino’s and GroupRaise for hosting a pizza fundraiser for the Center (and to everyone who participated);
  • The Milford Board of Health (BOH) for selecting the Youth Center as one of the locations for one of their PuprleAir Sensors! The BOH received funding from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) for their Air Sensor Grant Program. The PurpleAir Sensors measure levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in outdoor air in our community! The data collection this grant opportunity offers us can be put to great public and environmental use re: protecting, maintaining, and improving the air quality of our town and the overall quality of life of our residents and all who are employed here or visit!   • Milford TV (Nick Coelho, Mishelle Hebshie and interns) for donating their time to help students learn how to use film equipment and conduct interviews;
  • Ingrid Barbosa for donating board games;
  • Erica Goncalves for donating craft supplies;
  • Sandy Caproni for donating craft supplies;
  • Celebrate Milford for inviting us to have a booth and allow us to bring our jumpy to the KidsZone (thank you to our staff for working the event and the Milford Baseball team for helping us pack up the jumpy);
  • YMCA Milford Leaders Forum for inviting the Youth Center Director to participate in an event that encourages and helps support collaboration in the Milford community;
  • Goldfish Swim School – Milford for gifting three month free swim lessons to our families;
  • Milford Special Ops Unit for joining us during the After School Program;
  • Milford Regional Medical Center for sponsoring our Basketball Skills and Fitness after school program with Aaron Anniballi of New Human;
  • South High Community School of Worcester for allowing Paige Osnoe to do a CO-OP at the Center for the school year;
  • Worcester State University for allowing long-time staff member, Kallie Tavano, to conduct her internship/practicum requirement at the Center;
  • Milford Fire Department for welcoming our Kid’s Play Group to come in and learn about fire safety;
  • Maria, Co-Owner and Co-Founder of Nutriforia Nutrition for meeting with MYC staff to introduce us to her new business in town! Stay tuned for a future fundraiser they will be putting on for us! We are excited about this new partnership and we welcome you to the community;
  • Dairy Queen Milford for donating supplies to the Green Leaf Garden Club’s terrarium project this month;
  • Milford Food Service Program, CACFP and the Hockomock YMCA for providing dinners and snacks every day for the After School Program;
  • Milford Town Meeting Members for approving the allocation of funds to address water issues from the renovation and State Rep. Brian Murray for presenting the article;
  • Volunteers: Amazon volunteers: Theo Barry, Amy Craite, Elizabeth Daly, Frank Ficcardi, Sean Goyette, Kyle Lyons for coming in and donating their time to help with a multitude of projects through-out the Youth Center; Gail Jussaume for coming in twice a week or more to help package dinners in preparation for After School; the Green Leaf Garden Club, Phyllis Foley, Lindsay Weaver, and Theodora Weber for running a monthly gardening club; Brian Bell for running a weekly boxing program on Thursday evenings; James Brevigleiri for spending Wednesday’s here helping pass out dinners and snacks; Earl Wilson for volunteering his time to help with programs throughout the Center; Chrissy Ferruci for helping us learn more about the Tower Garden; Joshua Schorn for helping pass out dinners and maintain the cafeteria space; Mariangela Kosmicki for running a weekly Italian program on Tuesday’s; Bob Gilmore for inviting the students down to Milford Pond so they can learn how to fish!
