MYC 2025 Summer Camp Wrap-Up!

We cannot believe that summer camp is over! Campers enjoyed an action pack filled summer with our awesome staff and volunteers! Campers also had the opportunity to enjoy free breakfast and lunch due to the collaboration of SFSP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services Department.

Week 5 was themed S.T.E.A.M. Week! Campers met with Milford Town Library to check in on their passport project on Monday, and they also enjoyed Fino Pool! Tuesday, we packed the buses and took a trip to Urban Air. Campers and staff enjoyed climbing and bouncing around all their courses and we even took on another camp in dodgeball. On Wednesday, we headed to Mendon Beach for our weekly visit. For Thursday’s craft, campers had an opportunity to make their own guitars out of cardboard and rubber bands, followed by an impromptu game of 7-Up. We would like to extend a HUGE thank you to 4-H Youth Development, UMASS Extension for dropping in Friday morning. They set up a 3-stage program where campers learned about worm jobs, with real worms, bees with crafted bees, and finally, working dogs with Fable, a sheep-herding collie. After lunch, campers had the opportunity to watch a movie, enjoy free time, or join a staff vs. kids game. Our campers of the week were Anastasia and Juztyn and our counselors were Yaz and Brody.

The last week of Camp was Color Wars! This is a fun-filled week of team competitions! Campers were split up into 7 groups, identified by color, and they competed against each other through a series of fun challenges throughout the week!

For their first team challenge, they had to plan out their team banners, using only their one team color, for which they were judged and given points, and they each made a bandana with their team color! They also played several Minute to Win It games to help earn points! After lunch, they all headed to Fino Pool to swim! On Tuesday, teams broke off throughout Milford, within a .5-mile radius of the Center, on a scavenger hunt! On Wednesday, the camp made their last trip to Mendon Town Beach for our summer camp program! The campers had a great time swimming, jumping off the dock, playing sports and hanging out on the swing set! The most important activity of the day was Color Wars teams building sandcastles to earn points for their team! Thursday, the kids had some free time and we announced winners—congratulations to Team Green! In the afternoon, the kids had their last trip to Fino Pool. Our final day of camp came fast and both campers and staff enjoyed a sunny day at Onset beach! We would also like to thank the Hockomock Area YMCA for lending us some lifeguards for the day!

Thank you for a great summer! Make sure to check out all our social media pages for fun photos and videos of camp! Finally, we would also like to thank everyone who donated scholarships this summer!
