August Gratification Post: MYC Supplemental Food Programs!

Each month we thank an individual, business and/or organization who supports our efforts. This month’s gratification post is for all our Supplemental Food Programs!

These wonderful organizations provide food for our Youth Center community, from after school members to their families, and everyone in between.

Thanks to Carla and her team at the Milford School’s Food Service Department who prepare and deliver free snacks and dinners during our after-school program, and breakfast and lunches during our summer camp program. These lunches, dinners and snacks are completely free of charge to registered members of the MYC, due to the collaboration of CACFP and the Hockomock Area YMCA. During our 10 month After-school program, the Center passed out 4,084 snacks and 4,455 dinners

Speaking of YMCA Hockomock, they have been a partner with the Center for years with food security initiatives. Not only do they sponsor the Center, helping provide food to our after-school and summer camp kids, but they also provide groceries to our community with their Pop-Up Pantry. Mario, our favorite delivery man, handed out 300 bags of groceries in 2024/25 schoolyear.

Lastly, Spoonful’s has worked with the MYC each week during the school year to give away groceries to participating MYC families. We then separate and distribute according to the number of families that have registered and confirmed their weekly pick up. This past school year we gave away 5,915 pounds of food. The Spoonful’s team always arrive with a smile and help to support the needs of our families with specific foods they can collect from various, partnering locations. We would like to thank you for your continuous efforts in accessing and distributing food that would otherwise go to waste.

Thank you all for being such an amazing part of our community and we are so thankful for all that you do!
