We will be putting our Batting Cages to use this month which will be run by two of our part time staff Jayden Fernandes and Jason Luchini. We are also excited to continue offering Knitting, where kids are learning to create their own knit goods with the help of our volunteers Joanna Smith-Barnes and Beverly Prescott. Milford TV will also be back this month! We have had a lot of support from Milford TV and it continues with this program. The kids have shown a lot of interest and dedication in this program. Last month the kids filmed our Thanksgiving event and interviewed several Town Hall members, staff, and guests. The kids will have a chance to continue pursuing their passion with Milford TV, while new members are encouraged to sign up! Milford TV will be providing this month’s introductory/ new member technical training Dec. 2nd. Also, this month we have a couple of one day programs that you don’t want to miss! December 13th at 5:00 come in to join Airplane Flying run by John Holcomb and Scott Annis where kids will get a chance to get behind the remote! Also, December 17th at 3:30 we will offer Nail Salon where kids can get holidays nails done by our Assistant Director, Katie Covell.
Are you between the ages of 15-18? Are you a member of the MYC? If so, come in Wednesdays at 3:30 to join Weight Lifting/Boot Camp for free use of our gym equipment! We have a fully functional gym just waiting to be used by our members and our part staff Shapel Feaster will be there to teach you how to use everything! Please note that we will not be open for kids on Christmas Eve or Day and New Year’s Eve or Day. We will be open December 23-27 and the 30th from 12-3 PM for open gym (must be registered After School member to attend)!
The Milford Youth Center has become the focal point for the children of Milford. It hosts many different activities and events throughout the year for the youth of Milford and/or the Milford Schools. The Milford Youth Center’s after school program is open for youth ages 8-18, free of charge, from 2-6 pm, Monday through Friday (check monthly calendar, website and social media for any changes due to weather, holidays or vacation weeks). All Youth members must be picked up by time of closing (unless they walk home). Pick up is outside of the building on 24 Pearl St. Please visit our website for both our weather policy and traffic control plan.
All participants must fill out a registration form annually to be a member. Once this form is completed and returned to the Center, the member will be provided with a key tag and ID number (if they are new members to the program). This will be how the Youth Center staff will track attendance. Therefore, all members are required to bring in their key tag in order to enter the facility. If key tag is lost, the Center will charge $1.00 for replacement. The game room, lounge and gymnasium will be offered daily. There will be structured programs that participants must sign up for to participate in. Members are also able to use our washer and dryer, free of charge, during operation hours. The Center also offers a free snack and dinner program, due to the collaboration of CACFP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department.
