MYC Summer Camp Update: July 2025!

We are flying through camp with over 120 campers signed up for the summer! Campers have been enjoying activities every day at the Center with our awesome staff and volunteers! They have also had the opportunity to enjoy free breakfast and lunch due to our collaboration with SFSP, Hockomock Area YMCA and the Milford School Food & Nutrition Services department. Check out all the fun stuff we have done over the last four weeks!

Week 1 started off strong with ‘Hollywood Themes Week’. Campers, new and old, were introduced to staff, our building, and rules. Once introductions were out of the way, campers had some free time to explore and enjoy everything from the bouncy house to bracelet making. We took the first of two trips to Fino pool, and mid-week, to Mendon Beach. An incredible lake for our campers to enjoy the sun, water, playground, and even some ice cream from the snack shack. These offsite activities happen every week if the weather cooperates! On Tuesday we took our first field trip to Pinz. Kids got a chance to bowl and play arcade games. They also enjoyed some pizza and lemonade. On Friday the campers took a walk to the Milford Town Library where they were greeted by Sam and her team! Congratulations to Week 1 staff of the week, Ava and Elijah! And to our campers of the week, Hooper and Alanna!

Week 2 was ‘Splash Week’. The kids spent most of the week in the water or drinking water to stay cool during the heatwave. Monday started off with meeting new campers followed by Sam of Milford Town Library who came to talk to the campers about their Summer Reading Passport Program, and they also gave away free books!  On Monday and Wednesday, we went to Fino pool in two shifts. At Mendon Town Beach the campers swam and hung out all day. At Water Wizz campers enjoyed various slides, rides, the lazy river and the wave pool! It was the perfect day for water activities! We had a Foam Party to wrap up a wet and wild week, and finally, they enjoyed free play and Finding Nemo on Friday! Shoutout to Week 2 staff of the week, Guy and Chloee!Chloe! Also, to our campers of the week, Liliana and Charlie!

Week 3 was themed ‘On the Farm’ with our annual, and highly anticipated, trip to Kimball Farms! Campers visited Fino pool on Monday and Wednesday to go swimming. This week for craft, the kids got to decorate their own piggy banks. Tuesday, we rolled into Kimball, this trip is historically our most popular, campers get the opportunity to receive lunch onsite. They get ice cream of their choice, and they rotate through various activities in their groups. Longtime volunteer Phyllis Foley came by on Friday to teach the kids about the wonderful uses of plants in cooking. Kids had an opportunity to smell and even taste different plants from chive to parsley. Phyllis then helped campers make their own Dilly Dip which was enjoyed by campers and staff alike. We ended Friday watching ‘The Odd Life of Timothy Green’. Shoutout to Week 3 staff of the week, Brian and Maddie! Also, to our campers of the week, Nicholas and Xayna!

Week 4 was Marvel v. DC week! The library kicked off our Monday, meeting with kids in their Passport Program and once again, gave away free books. We hit Fino pool twice for a nice change of scenery and of course Mendon Town beach mid-week.  On Tuesday we took our biggest field trip to date, Canobie Lake! Campers, along with staff, combed through the park trying to squeeze as much fun as time would allow. From the water park to roller coasters to amusement park games, there was no shortage of activities. It was our quietest bus ride home by far. We ended the week with a hysterical, high-energy magic show geared for all age groups! After a packed week we then voted to see who would reign supremely. Campers voted for either DC or Marvel, the winner deciding which movie they would then see. Marvel trounced DC and campers finished the week watching ‘Into the Spider-verse’. Shoutout to Week 4 staff of the week, Cam and Sarah! Also, to our campers of the week, Valentina and John!
