In February, our 5th month of the MYC Youth Council program was especially busy! At the beginning of the month, the kids enjoyed making and decorating Valentine’s Day cards that were given to the members of the Milford Senior Center!
The MYC Youth Council members also learned about the importance of Black History Month, which is celebrated in February. As a group, they learned more about influential black men and women in our country such as Ruby Bridges, Martin Luther King Jr, and Rosa Parks. We also discussed the importance of treating everyone equally within our community, especially at the Youth Center!
The Youth Council has also been spending time planning our fundraiser! The kids came up with the amazing idea of collecting men’s socks to be donated to our local homeless shelter. We will be collecting items throughout the month of March!
