The Milford Youth Center is very excited to announce that we were awarded a $800 grant from the Milford Cultural Council to purchase equipment and materials for our MYC Garden Club! This program will provide youth with no cost on-site gardening programming during our Free After-School Program, serving 600+ annually and our 6-week Summer Camp serving 100 each summer.
The MYC has developed a great relationship with the Greenleaf Gardening Club of Milford and one of their dedicated members, Phyllis Foley. Phyllis has been able to create a fun and inviting atmosphere with the youth at the MYC through her love of gardening. This grant will allow us to purchase supplies to improve the area where we historically have had our garden, but due to exterior work getting done on the building, we had to remove it. When the work is done in the Spring, we would like to have the space return to a garden, but improved with elevated garden beds for more accessibility, which this grant will allow!
