We would like to thank everyone that helped make our 10th “Dressed Up, Not Messed Up” Youth Fashion Show a success this year! Over 25 youth participated in the event! Thank you to the MYC Dance program participants who performed their dance, choreographed by Iliana G., which interpreted a positive self-image and the importance of self-love. Included in the dance, the girls used a blanket, made with donations from Annie’s Kindness Blankets. Annie’s Kindness Blankets is a 501(c)3 organization that provides an “everlasting hug” to anyone that may need it. The key mission is to let people know it’s okay to reach out and ask for help. It’s okay to not be okay and you are not alone.
We would specifically like to thank: John D, Jay V. Carlos B. and our very own, Jen W. for building the catwalk and at the end of the event, breaking it down and putting back into storage; PT staff and volunteer David Abrantes for helping with set-up/clean-up and taking photos/videos; Ron Auger for being the DJ of the event and for the use of his lighting for the runway; Darlene D. and Gail G. for running the front entry and collecting donations from supporting family and friends; Youth Council members, Jessica B., Maddie C., Isabella G., Miguel HH., Keira M., and Cassidy R. for handing out pamphlets and for guiding people to their seats; Kali B., Parker G., Braelyn P., and Phaedra S., active cosmetology students at Blackstone Valley Technical School, for volunteering their time to do the participants hair and make-up, who chose to do so; Pamela Goldman for speaking on behalf of Annie’s Kindness Blankets; Sandy Gray of Jackie’s Boutique, for donating her time, dresses and accessories to the girls who chose to do so; Sandy’s friend, Annie Crowell, for making any necessary alterations to the dresses; Lee Alexander, owner of A Touch of Class Formalwear in Milford, for taking the time to measure and choose ensembles specific to those who chose to wear a suit; Guymonley S., a former MYC after-school member, and a current MYC staff, for walking in the show and speaking on behalf of the MYC free after-school program and what it has meant to him over the years; Julya C. for introducing the show; Dominque and Gerald of Milford TV for filming the event; Luna’s Place of Milford for allotting time for 6 MYC Fashion Show participants to have their hair cut or a hair styled; Pizza Palace for discounting pizza for our volunteers, and lastly, but most importantly, to all the MYC Fashion Show participants, thank you for an amazing evening, a spectacular memory and motivation to continue to allow this amazing event to take place!
