It’s February which means we are officially in month four of our MYC Youth Council! The Council has been up to many different activities, but the most important activity has been preparing for our “Dressed up not Messed up” fashion show taking place on Friday March 15th, 2024! The Youth Council has helped our two SCI AmeriCorps members in this preparation phase. They were able to
help Iliana by creating a music playlist for the participants to walk out to with confidence and were able to help create volunteer roles for the day of the event! The Council has also helped Landon by creating a google form to survey the community for statistics towards his flag presentation project!
This month our two SCI AmeriCorps members have officially started their online classes at Merrimack College and have been thriving! They also had an opportunity to take an improv class at The Rozzie Square Theater where they were able to learn many new public speaking skills that they will be taking back to their Youth Council! The focus of their service this month has been working on their youth capstone projects. Iliana and Landon will have both of their capstone projects presented on March 15th but each have different focuses. Iliana’s project will be the creation of the fashion show with recruitment of local volunteer, while Landon’s will be a diversity presentation at the end of the show to represent all the nationalities here at the MYC! This new year has been amazing so far and we are excited to see what the future holds for our AmeriCorps members and our MYC Youth 
Council!
