MYC Youth Council: November 2023 Updates

It’s November which means it’s officially month number two of our Youth Council! This past month our Youth Council has been very busy and has been able to do some amazing things! One thing they have been able to do this month was make blankets for one of our own Youth Center after school members going through a hardship right now and for other organizations in the community. This was made possible by Annie’s Kindness Blankets as they donated materials and resources to help this project happen. We would like to shout out Pamela Goldman for coming in November 8th with pizza and drinks during our meeting to help demonstrate how to make the blankets. Another event our Youth Council was able to attend was Milford’s Veterans Day Parade. Not only did we have our MYC members walk in the parade but also had two of them speak in front of the town on the history of Calzone Park! Additionally, our Youth Council members generously donated items for our Thanksgiving meal such as waters, juice boxes, and store-bought desserts.

In addition, Landon, and Iliana, our two SCI AmeriCorps Members have been up to a lot. On November 3rd our SCI members were officially sworn into the program, making them full-fledged members! Iliana was able to take a tour around Roxbury Community College and learn about all the opportunities AmeriCorps members can take from their programs. Additionally, they have been able to start attending their community engagement program at Merrimack College as they had an introduction on November 17th and will begin classes starting in January! They are looking forward to more exciting accomplishments coming up, stay tuned to see what they will do next month!
