We are so excited to announce that the MYC Youth Council has officially started this October! Landon and Iliana, our two SCI AmeriCorps members, have been hosting weekly meetings and have been up to some amazing things! In these meetings Landon and Iliana have been able to implement their knowledge they’ve learned from serving in SCI AmeriCorps into our youth council. They have been able to spread their knowledge by teaching our Youth Council about their identities, community agreements, and inclusivity. They were able to do this by completing “All About Me” worksheets while also coming up with community agreements that helps facilitate a safe space for everyone. To keep up with all of this, our Youth Council has been making their achievement chains which they update weekly and by creating a quilt that highlights all of the amazing things they will have done throughout the year!
We have so much coming up that we are beyond excited for such as participating in Milford Veterans Day Parade on November 10th, our Thanksgiving Meal for the after school members on November 21st and having a table at MHS Holiday Craft Fair on November 25th! We would also like to highlight that we will be having a couple volunteers coming in to help to create a special blanket making project. That’s all we have for now! Look out for us in November! If you would like to walk in the Veterans Day parade with the MYC, email or call us by next Wednesday, 11/8 so we can give you details!
The MYC Youth Council is a group of young Milford Youth Center members, in the town of Milford, who are striving to make a difference in the community by facilitating different youth community events and taking part in volunteer opportunities.
