Thank you to Josh Schorn, a long time MYC member, volunteer and most recently, for his Eagle Scout project, Josh selected to complete a project for the Youth Center. For a long time, roughly seven years, it has been a goal of the Director, Jen Ward, to have our incomplete skateboard ramps refurbished, painted and to be made safe and useable! Josh Schorn, as his Eagle Scout project has done just that. With over eighty man-hours, Josh and his team have improved the mobility and durability of the skateboard ramps. Josh installed rubber casters on each piece, which ensures minimal difficulty in moving the pieces around the property to both use and to store away. Josh and his team painted each piece for both visual appearance but more so as a source of durability from outside elements and the impact of the skateboards when in use! Josh raised $150.00 from family and friends to complete the needs of this project. Sherwin Williams, an amazingly known paint store graciously donated the paint and paint supplies. Koopman Lumber donated the casters, screws, and handles for the project. Josh’s team included Members from his BSA Troop 314, Ethan Smith, Sam Catalogna, Patrick Holland, Austin Rizzo, Logan Rizzo, Connor Hayes, Connor Ross, Gage Shannon, Jackson Luca, and Matthew Carr. Josh’s friends and family members that also helped are Brian Hayes, Jon Mason and both of his supportive parents, Jeannette and Greg Schorn. The generous companies who donated supplies, are Zachary Booth and Alexander Zins from Sherwin Williams, and Mike DiVirgilio from Koopman Lumber We’d like to thank Josh, his team, supporters, Sherwin Williams and Koopman Lumber for all of the work, donations and dedication given to Josh to help finalize his Eagle Scout project and for helping the Milford Youth Center in making a long time dream become a reality for the youth of Milford. Finally, thank you to our facilities team for helping Josh bring the the different pieces in and out of the Center!
