Happy Holidays from the MYC! What a whirlwind of a week! In between morning, afternoon and evening programs MYC staff distributed over $10,000 worth of donated gifts to over 130 youth and their families! First, this wouldn’t have even been possible without the help of board members Jay Vaz, who helped us pick up gifts and distribute them, Ariea Bryan who helped organize gifts for volunteers and kids, and to John and Darlene Dulude who helped organize and wrap gifts over two days for us! Part-time and full-time staff have collected lists, created spreadsheets and picked up gifts from multiple businesses and agencies over the last couple months! Businesses and individuals sponsored youth and/or held collections for our center including the United Way of Tri-County, Amazon.com, Waters Corporation, Goldfish Swim School – Milford, Infinite Pawz-ibilities Dog Training, The Perfect Blend, West Street AutoBody, the Fauth Family, Beth Fraunfelter, Patty Tamagni, Laura Krovocheck, Erika Robertson, Diane Potter, Carli Winterton, Mel Burns, Helene Ciccone and Carrie McGrath! It truly takes a village and we are so appreciative of everyone’s support to help make this Holiday season a little extra special for our youth this year!
Two families that we were able to help with gifts this year could also use some continued support! For more information see below:
- A Milford Special Ops officer’s 5 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with leukemia. The Special Ops Unit had become an integral part of our program prior to Covid and then assisted us with birthday deliveries during the pandemic when we were closed. - Dajia DeJesus is a former MYC After School member along with her brother Cayson. Dajia was recently diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and friends of the family have created a *spotfund donation page to support the family here. Lisa and Benny DeJesus have been longtime friends and supporters of the Milford Youth Center as well.
