MYC Youth Council (MYCYC) Updates: February 2019

MYC Youth Council is a leadership and community service-based organization comprised of Afterschool members of all ages striving to make a difference in the community through facilitating several youth community events as well as taking part in volunteer opportunities!
This past month our Youth Council members have focused on showing their appreciation for the community of Milford! For our first

meeting of the month, Youth Council made cards for the Milford Police Department and presented them to Stacy school resource officer and MYC volunteer Mark Castiglione on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day!
Youth Council also assisted our AmeriCorps member Marissa in updating our Community Outreach Board, which she takes to Woodland Elementary, Stacy Middle, and MHS once monthly to educate others on the programs and facilities the MYC has to offer our community! For our meeting shortly before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Youth Council made a mural of hands to show that although we may all be different, our differences together make us stronger!

We were also fortunate enough to have Al Correia invite us onto his show to interview us about our favorite parts about the MYC! We’d also like to give a huge thank you to Liz Harkins from MilfordTV for coming in to give us lessons on proper use and operation of recording equipment, thank you so much Liz and everyone at MilfordTV for giving us the opportunity to explore such an interesting field!
