We would like to thank the Joseph D. Early Jr., Worcester County District Attorney’s Office., for presenting a $2,500 check last month to support the Milford Youth Center! We would also like to thank the representatives from the Milford Police Department, Senator Ryan Fattman’s office and Representative Brian Murray for joining us for the donation presentation.
We are so thankful for the generous donation, which will help directly support the Youth Center’s endeavors to finish our music & studio rooms; areas that were not a part of the scope of the recent renovation. This check was our first donation to support our second annual Telethon, scheduled for Sept. 15, 2018, in the hope to raise even more funds to come closer to completing the space! Due to today’s donation, we are at $10,000 of our $50,000 goal to accomplish the renovation of this space! Studies conducted by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), through the US Department of Justice, as well as the National Endowment of the Arts, have shown that arts based programming has demonstrated positive effects on youth who are considered at risk. Specifically, arts programming has demonstratively led to: better academic results, greater likelihood of higher education, improved social skills, increased levels of community integration, increased self-esteem and emotional resiliency, and increased high school graduation rates.”
As always, we would like to thank the DA for your continued support and generosity towards the Milford Youth Center. It is due to organizations, businesses and individuals, like you, that we are able to continue to offer free after school programming, an affordable summer camp, and provide a safe and fun environment for the youth of Milford!
