We are excited to share that, after a lot of hard work by the MYC Renovation Committee, that a General Contractor for the Armory Renovation project has been selected! R.A.C. Builders Inc. was awarded the Milford Youth Center renovation project and will be beginning the project soon- we would like to thank everyone who has been involved in the project and excited to see it begin!
For the last month, MYC staff and volunteers have been emptying out the building, getting it ready to hand over to the contractors, while also setting up at the temporary location. We will be looking to open for the Youth on Monday, October 27th at 25/27 Congress St (registrations and new policies will be available soon)! We will be having an Open House for families on Friday, October 24th, from 2:30-4:00 PM at the new location. We then invite all youth to join us for the first “Find Yourself Friday” Youth event, that night from 6-8 PM at the Middle School East Gymnasium. The JAG Youth Council Youth Leadership group will begin on Wednesday, October 22nd, from 3-4 PM as well! Finally, the MYC Boxing program is up and running at the Rivera Athletic Center. If there is a youth that would like to participate, the program runs on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 4:30-5:30 PM.
We would like to thank Ed Thompson of WMRC, Al Correia and Milford TV for having us on their shows to update the community on the Center and the renovation. We would like to thank Ryder Trucks of Milford for working with us over the month with rental trucks. We would also like to thank Mendon Storage for providing four storage units for us. Finally, we would like to thank the many volunteers that helped us during this transition: You Inc., Brian Bell, Mike Dehey, Benjamin De Jesus, Gabby De Jesus, Rob Kidder, Rafael Corona, Arthur Siipola and Alfred P Scioli, of S & S Realty Trust, and Meg McElroy of Greater Milford Realty.
