May After School Program Updates!

MYC YouthThe Milford Youth Center staff and commission would like to acknowledge the very generous donation of $25,000 to the Center last April by an anonymous donor. The Milford Youth Center’s After School Program is continuing to see over 100 youth each day and will only be able to provide more services and programs for the youth with such acts of giving.

Without the support of the many organizations, businesses, and individuals that support our Center, we would not be able to offer our youth the programs and activities that we do!

The Youth Center offers a variety of free services for local youths, ages 8-18. The Milford Youth Center houses a gym, game room, computer room and lounge. This month, youth can enjoy

Stress Free Zone, JAG Youth Council, Open Gym and wiffle ball! Click here for the May calendar! Youth must bring a filled out and signed registration form in order to attend the Center. You can find out all up-to-date info at our website: http://milfordyouthcenter.net

A newer program, Stress Free Zone, is run by Framingham State intern, Alison Julian.

The program is designed to introduce a strategy or activity that can help youth manage stress in their life. For example, through arts & crafts, music, mindfulness & relaxation, fitness, and theater (Photo to right shows youth creating stress balls)! The Center will host their second Sports Night on Friday,May 31st from 6-8 PM. This event will celebrate the importance of physical activity and sports!

Last month, members of the Center competed in a week long volleyball tournament. Over 40 youth participated in the tournament but Adriana Fayad, Sabrina Flores, Courtney Fisher, Dylan Smith, and Devon Despres were the champions!

The MYC would like to thank the numerous volunteers,
individuals and organizations that allow us to continue to grow and provide a safe and fun environment for the Youth of Milford! We would like to specifically thank this month: United Way of Tri-County, Teachers Driving Academy, Ms. Carol McAvoy, Brandon Fishwick, Chief  Thomas O’Loughlin, and Walter Shea. The Center would like to thank Gustavo Vaz for volunteering on April 22nd in honor of Earth Day. Gustavo asked to clean up outside the Youth Center!

If you would like to volunteer, donate, or run a program during the after school program please call or email the Center.
